According to popular local lore, the unusual name ""Nagan"" (meaning female snake) stems from a century-old speculation that a massive snake once inhabited the site long before the city's urban expansion.

To permanently resolve the severe logistical challenges at this junction, the city government constructed a massive, two-tier flyover directly over the site.
